We have been contacted by numerous individuals who watched the most recent episode of Teen Mom OG, featuring our Director of Retreat Programming, Vicki Twomey. While we would love to be able to help everyone who reaches out to us - each of your stories touch us deeply - we are a small organization whose sole mission is to serve birthparents - parents who made the choice and placed their child for adoption - by providing them post-placement services. The description that was used on the show, that suggested we are an organization that helps moms rebuilds relationships with their kids, is not within the scope of our mission.
We strongly recommend for anyone who is struggling with complex relationships, grief and trauma to seek qualified therapy. A great resource to find a therapist is Psychology Today. Their web site allows you to input specific parameters including family conflict, grief, abuse, and relationship issues to name a few. Another resource that we have found valuable is Grief Recovery Method. They help work through all types of grief, not just a loss through death. Remember, just because you may be working through a relationship loss doesn't mean you are giving up on that relationship ever working, but taking steps such as seeking therapy will help you now with some coping mechanisms and tools for the future if and when the relationship rekindles.
